Kocaeli Transportation Master Plan 2035

Kocaeli Transportation Master Plan studies started in 2010 and was completed in 2012. The need to revise the Kocaeli Transportation Master Plan, which was prepared with the target of the year 2025, came to the fore with the important changes in the Zoning Plans and the determination of the projected projection target year as 2035. In this context, the KUAP transportation model of 2010 was used and the transportation model was calibrated for 2014 with the new field studies. Thus, the Kocaeli Transportation Master Plan study was prepared, taking into account the 2035 target year for the re-evaluation and development of the Transportation Master Plan decisions.

In order to determine the travel forecasts to be created for the KUAP target year (2035), target and interim year estimates of population, employment, labor force, number of students, income, automobile ownership, which will be inputs to the four-stage transportation demand forecasting model, were made. In order to meet the transportation demands expected in the target year, alternative solutions have been developed within the framework of the public transportation-oriented development approach.

Kocaeli Transportation Master Plan, within the boundaries of Kocaeli Metropolitan Municipality; for sustainable urban transportation; Analyzing and arranging the city in coordination and taking into account the upper and lower scale plan decisions of the city, providing solutions to transportation and traffic problems by giving priority to environment-friendly transportation systems such as public transportation systems and shared bicycle systems, in parallel; It includes the integration of intermediate-public transport modes, the arrangement of their stops and terminal areas, the planning and operation of various transport modes, including private transport, in a way that does not compete with each other and complements each other, and develops transfer opportunities.

All the regulations proposed within the scope of Kocaeli Transportation Master Plan were divided into stages, including the emergency action period and short, medium and long-term periods, and implementation programs were determined. Rail systems, bus operation, fleet management, transfer centers, intermediate public transportation systems, surrounding settlements and intercity transportation, pedestrian, bicycle, parking lot and road regulations, sea transportation, urban freight transportation and disabled access, which are examined in separate sections in the master plan report were included in the application program by ordering them according to their priorities.
